UNO Retail:

The Uno retail development is inspired by the exclusive shopping mall retail shopfront which has full height glass curtain wall façade. The idea is to move away from the conventional solid wall, small windows and messy big signage typical retail shop lots.

The entire development comprises of 24 nos of single storey retails with mezzanine floor that have a full height glass shop fronts and 7 nos of two storey retails which also have mezzanine at ground floor level.

These retail development aim to lift the standard of retail to more exclusive and high-end retail by having a full height shopfront glass façade with 15ft high ceiling space with mezzanine floor retails.

The glass façade has been designed with various size of glass panels and heights to create the randomness and hierarchy in overall façade compositions away from typical repetitiveness. The idea of line, edge and transparency has been accentuated. The 5-foot ways was fully covered with tinted glass canopies continuously to protect the pedestrian from the rain and shade. The signage will be tastefully design and place blend with the beautiful façade.

As for 2 storey retails, on the upper storey has been design with solid curve edge boxes interlocking each other’s to create a different hierarchy and depth for the façade. The play of curve and straight line to give balance between retro and modern architecture.  Different composition of slot window opening and shade of grey further help to bring out the characteristic of the façade.

The interior will be kept simple and plain to allow owner to decorate their interior based on their need. Double volume entrance space with mezzanine floor has create different volume of space for the uniqueness of these retail.

One of the important features for the two-storey shop is the creation of an outdoor terrace at first floor. They appeared at front and rear façade alternately between adjacent units. The space is a social gathering space for office tenants, a coffee break area with great view into the center of the Uno commercial plaza.

The Uno retail development has a central plaza at the middle of single storey retail shop area. It is a place where visitors transit between rows of retail blocks and celebration or large commercial events can take place at this flexible multipurpose public space.

KFC:

The KFC design language echoes with the rest of commercial retail design, using retrospective architectural lines and geometry that reminds Malaysian of the past Art Deco and Modernist style architecture in the early 20th century. The spirit of that era also marks the exploration of aerodynamic in post-war automobile design, as well as resonating with the iconic American Art Deco styled fast food chain drive-thru and diner culture. The mass of the building is conceived visually as a cabin ‘lifted’ from the ground with accentuation of KFC’s iconic red color highlighting the elements like the roof canopy and window coping. A giant scaled-up KFC Chicken Bucket grace visitors at the top of the main entrance, functioning as an lit up KFC advertisement mounting surface that form the landmark beacon for the township.

The design of the interior is an extension of the exterior concept mixing Art Deco, Modernist style language but executed to contemporary material and technique. KFC customer can find retro café car seat style dining and classic mid-century Art Deco arches detailing in the interior.

Customer will be greeted by a giant KFC Bucket form foyer at main entrance. Some of the dining area seating is part of concrete façade curved shape bay window ledge. The form of the curved window ledge seeing from exterior give the overall building a floating retro ‘lifted cabin’ effect.

The overall architectural design and the big KFC bucket are iconic design statement that attract people’s attention hopefully from all over Klang Valley and beyond. We hope this KFC and Drive-thru not just providing F&B services but also an ‘Instagramable’ destination where people love to visit, gather and share their experience of their time spent here.
