Pulpit Rock Church Competition

Psalm 18:2

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

The Christian cross symbolizes the love of God for humanity. The strong vertical form of the Pulpit Rock has inspired us to complete the form of a cross by inserting a horizontal church. On the exterior, the Pulpit Rock, together with the new architecture, resembles a Christian cross from Lysefjord, highlighting the presence of God.

The church is anchored onto the Southeast wall of the Pulpit Rock, without obstructing any views from the platform of the rock. In the Christian's bible, God is often described as a 'rock' to illustrate the idea of God'd stability and strength. The church is held by the Pulpit Rock.

With the horizontal form of the church spanning across the horizon and viewing towards the beautiful landscape. During noon time. when the sun appears in the middle of the panoramic view, the crucifix will appear as a silhouette, as though as God is appearing from the sky. Visitors can have a personal moment of contemplation with God in the prayer room, facing the rock wall, which is also lit up by a skylight above.
